*Under
Tweed Shire Council regulations all dogs and puppies have to be vet checked
to assess whether they are suitable for sale.
Vet checks are scheduled for every Thursday.
Those assessed unsuitable are destroyed without being offered for sale.
We
only have a short time to find homes for those dogs and puppies assessed suitable
for sale.
If unsuccessful, council sometimes allow us to rescue these animals.
Please register your interest in a dog or puppy by contacting the pound.
All dogs and cats being sold to NSW residents have to be lifetime registered at the time of sale from the pound.

2541 "Brownie" - Labrador x - Male "Brownie" is a beautiful 11 month old chocolate Labrador x. Purchased as a cute puppy, given no training and then dumped at the pound - we see it too often. He will respond very well to training and does need it, but he has a beautiful nature, is a friendly happy boy who just wants to please. He will make a wonderful addition to the family. |

2546 "Shar" - Red Cattle x Ridgeback - Male "Shar" is truly unique and we doubt you will find another like this cute little boy. Although he is down as a Cattle x Ridgeback he is only a small dog with lots of character. He is very friendly and also quite obedient, and generally an affectionate and lovely little . |
Lost Dogs in the Pound
We are not always given information of the other dogs/cats in the pound, if you have lost your pet we advise visiting the pound to look at the found animals.You can phone the pound on 02 6676 6060 to report your lost pet.

Dogs in Foster Care
The following dogs are not in the pound. Some have been rescued as their short time in the
pound ran out and they were due to be destroyed. They are all still in need of a loving home.
The following prices are heavily subsidised by Friends of the Pound as we have already paid for the desexing, vaccinations, microchipping, vet-checks, heartworm
testing and NSW lifetime registration. Other veterinary expenses may also have been incurred.
As we cannot afford to lose money on every animal sold we charge $160, $250 for small dogs up to 10 kilos and $300 for purebred dogs. Older or special dogs
- 50% off.
We are a not for profit organisation and these prices are what it actually costs us for the basic veterinary costs for each animal.
If you are in a position to pay more for a foster dog we welcome any further donations. All monies received helps us to rescue more animals.
If the animals are to reside in NSW an additional $40 (or $15 for Pensioner) needs to be paid for the Lifetime Registration of the animal.
If animals are to reside outside of NSW, please check registration requirements with your local council.

With Foster Carer "Taj" - Cattle x Jack Russell Terrier - Desexed Female Taj is a very loveable 4 year old desexed female Jack Russell x Cattle Dog. She just loves lots of company and is a happy and affectionate little dog. She loves playing with other dogs and also likes swimming. She is a little wary of strangers, but once she knows you she will greet you with a happy wagging tail. She does need to go to a home where there is someone home most of the time, and would love to be with another dog. She will reward you with her affection and loyalty as a lifelong friend. With Foster Carer "Timmy" - Kelpie x pup - Male This adorable little pup called "Timmy" may look confident in this photo but he is still very timid with people. He is 10 months old and is well socialized with other dogs, but needs to gain confidence with people and their noises. Timmy needs to be with another dog who would love to play with him. Someone who could spend time giving him lots of cuddles would be ideal as he will let you cuddle him. Older sensitive children willing to help him settle in would be ideal but not young children. With Foster Carer "Tina" - Australian Silky Terrier - Desexed Female Tina is an Australian Silky Terrier, she is a very spritely 10 year old desexed female. She looks more like 5 years old than 10! With Foster Carer "Xena" - Staffy x - Desexed Female Xena is an adorable 5 year old desexed female Staffy x. She is all Staffy in nature and just adores all people, and loves their company. She is absolutely ball mad. Anyone wanting to throw a ball is her immediate best friend and she will always bring it straight back to you. She is good with kids and also with other dogs. With Foster Carer "Zara" - Ridgeback x - Desexed Female Hi my name is Zara; my mum bought me from the RSPCA at Tweed Heads when I was 2 months old. I am a Ridgeback x, so I am tall and slim. I am female, 18mths old and have been micro chipped and desexed. I am up to date with my immunisation and have a monthly pill for heartworm, fleas and worms. So I am in perfect health. It breaks my mum’s heart as she needs to find me a new home as I am too bossy to my mate Buddy. As I want all the attention I need to be with a family who doesn’t have another dog. I am perfect with children as I have grown up with a little girl who is now 3 years old. My mum made sure from the start that I understood to be gentle and loving; sometimes I go overboard with the kisses though! My mum says that only a family who is willing to give me the absolute best care; love and attention can have me, as I am her baby and she will be worried sick about me. Private Rehoming - Other Dogs Needing a Home
The following dogs are not from the pound. Their owners are no longer able to care for them and have asked Friends of the Pound to place a notice on this website. Friends of the Pound take no responsibility for these dogs. Please contact their owners directly. All dogs in NSW must be microchipped and lifetime registered before being passed on to a new owner.

Private Rehoming "Ciceroo" - Blue Heeler - Desexed Female Very friendly and affectionate 6 year old who is obedient and a good watch dog. Her owner is working in a mine up north and has left her to be rehomed. She will make a loyal companion and would prefer a home without children. She is also microchipped.
